چکیده

Cabergoline is a dopamine ergoline derivative which stimulates D2 receptors in the pituitary. It has been proposed that pathological gambling is caused by a stimulation of dopaminergic reward systems and is linked with other addictive and obsessive behaviors. Cabergoline has been associated with pathological gambling when used with L-dopa to treat Parkinson’s disease. To my knowledge, this is the first report of cabergoline being associated with pathological gambling in a patient with pituitary prolactinoma. Physicians prescribing cabergoline need to be aware of the potential for the development of pathological gambling in their patients. Michael Davie The Hobart Clinic, Rokeby, Tasmania, Australia
